BRAIN POWER: Dave broke his goalscoring duck to put the Casuals ahead

A stirring second half comeback saw the Casuals record their first win in nearly two months and lift them into the top half of the league table.

The visitors took the lead after 35 minutes but Sam Holder levelled the scores on the hour mark when he raced onto John Skelly’s through ball and cooly slid his finish past the Bahia keeper.

Just minutes later the Casuals were ahead when Dave Brain (not a typo) unleashed a 20 yarder into the top corner. This was right back Brainy’s first goal in his 40th appearance for the club.

From this moment on Chris Wolsey’s goal was barely threatened but captain Skelly’s decisive goal from close range to make the score 3-1 was a relief when it came due to the Casuals’ recent propensity to concede.

The icing on the cake was a late fourth goal from Andy Thirsk who ran onto Michael Rootes’ free kick down the side of the defensive wall before slotting in from a narrow angle.

The vital three points move the Casuals up to sixth in the table. Next Saturday the Casuals visit 5th placed Tooting Bec.
