WESTMINSTER CASUALS 3
PURETOWN 1
Geoff Ellis Senior Shield 2nd Round, Saturday 21 January 2012

IN OFF THE POST: Hobbit Holder put the Casuals 2-1 up
Westminster Casuals secured their place in round three of the Geoff Ellis Senior Shield as they overcame fellow Richardson Evans residents Puretown.
The Casuals lively start was rewarded when a short corner routine by Jazz Chahal and Stu Lester set up Sam Holder and the wide man finished in style.
Puretwon equalised almost immediately with a quick attacking move that caught the Casuals napping and their winger finished with aplomb.
The lively Chahal restored the Casuals lead with a deflected shot looped over Puretown?s stand in keeper.
On the stroke of half time Puretown went close to levelling once more the score but the Casuals went into half time with a narrow lead.
A strong crosswind made things difficult for both teams in the second half but Holder went closest to extending the lead but saw his close range effort parried until the very last minute when Chahal ensured the Casuals safe passage with a shot that crept under the keeper.
The Casuals second half workrate was praised by player manager Ollie Harker-Smith, delighted that his team had extended their season by at least one more game.
"I was proud of the guys today and our commitment got us over the line however I know this team still has much to offer" he said.
The Casuals have a week off next Saturday and return to league action on 4th February.
