FINAL GAME OF THE SEASON
Thursday 30 April 2009

HOBBIT: Could he really finish as top scorer?

The Westminster Casuals travel to Sporting Bahia for their final game of the 2008/09 season hoping for a repeat of the 4-1 scoreline over the same opponents back in November.

Geordie's boys will need three points if they are to have any hope of maintaining their current position of 7th in the league table which will represent a respectable halfway finish in their first season at this level.

No matter what happens on Saturday the Casuals will have lost more league games than they have won this season but with better availability and a settled line up that stat would surely have been reversed.

While the back four will be hoping to record their first back to back clean sheets of the season the main focus of the afternoon will be at the other end of the pitch where four players have genuine hopes of winning the Goalden Boot. And it's fair to say all of the contenders are due a goal...

Currently leading the goal chase on 7 goals are 'Hitman' Hardy who is hoping to claim a record 5th Goalden Boot but currently without a goal in seven games and the Hobbit who has notched just two goals since the turn of the year.

Meanwhile grumpy battering ram Jim and captain Skelly - who have notched 6 apiece - haven't hit the net since they both scored a 3-2 win at NPL on 7th March.

To date just 8 players have won the highly prestigious boot in 17 seasons, and it has only been shared once before, back in the 1999/2000 season.

The Hitman has promised to buy the first round if he reaches double figures.

The end of season booze up will follow Saturday's match, news of which will follow from the Toff if he recovers from swine flu, which he believes he may have contracted from Claire Young. Apparently he phoned NHS direct for advice but all he got was crackling...

Details of meet times etc will be advised by the Hobbit on Friday.
