Nick and Dave line up before the 1993 Cup Final v Rangers Inter
Two Westminster Casuals legends that played in the clubs debut season back in 1991/92 have recently been interviewed for the website.
Nick Markham, now 40, made an explosive start to his Casuals career scoring hat-tricks in his first two appearances in the West End Sunday League Division C. He went onto play the majority of his 115 games at centre back where he took great pleasure in hacking down opponents but is probably best known for introducing the wibbly wobbly drinking game on the 1995 Bridgend Tour.
He now lives in Surrey and is CEO of Top-up TV.
Dave Houlker, 42, was the first Casuals captain and went onto play 104 games at the heart of the defence between 1991 and 1996. He is undoubtedly the nicest fella ever to pull on a Casuals jersey and was never booked or spoken to by a referee.
A regular tourist and club holidayer in the early days, Dave was taunted mercilessly by his teammates for his laboriously polite chat up ‘techniques’ that led to one girl saying to him, “You can kiss me you know.”
Dave still resides in Potters Bar and is now a Commercial Manager for the Ministry of Defence. He played in the Reunited match in the Summer but snapped his achilles tendon in a work match just a few weeks later. We wish him a speedy recovery!
You can read Nick and Dave’s profiles and Q&A’s and find out what they really thought of Phil Malcolm in the Legends section.
