CHEER UP: The Hitman is the Casuals’ record goalscorer
Congrats to Ian Hardy who made his 175th club appearance at the weekend.
The Hitman’s Casuals career spans eight seasons and in that time he has struck an almighty 186 goals, a strike ratio of 1.06 goals per game.
The Birmingham born striker with the Gary Lineker ears was signed by Geordie back in 2001 and is now 4th on the all time appearance list. The top 15 reads as follows:
1 Philip Malcolm 293 games/95 goals
2 Stephen Cates 237 / 59
3 Stuart Richards 200 / 3
4 Ian Hardy 175 / 186
5 Michael Rootes 173 / 128
6 Christopher Wolsey 162 / 0
7 Anthony Smith 151 / 17
8 Samuel Holder 139 / 47
9 Ertan Djemal 131 / 1
10 Roger Phillips 128 / 14
11 John Skelly 127 / 45
11 Huw Thomas 127 / 106
13 Dominic Edwards 126 / 18
14 Lee Welch 122 / 13
15 James Paley 121 / 32
The Hitman, 29, recently ended an 8 game barren run and has gradually seen his ratio drop from 1.21 goals per game at the end of the 2005/06 season at which time he had notched 145 goals in 119 games.
Ian’s next target is to reach 200 goals before his 200th game. If he maintains his 2008/09 strike rate (4 goals in 9 games = 0.44 goals per game) it will take him another 32 games to score the 14 goals he requires to reach the double ton.
Which means he wouldn’t score his 200th until his 207th game.
The goal chase is on!
