CASUALS LEGEND PROFILE
Danny Grimes

Dan signed for the Casuals towards the end of the 1993/94 season as a 20 year old replacing Gazza Ward between the sticks and instantly became a popular dressing room figure when he came for a cross on his debut and punched Phil in the face.
Unfortunately Dan's excellent early form tailed off, and a series of blunders earned him the nickname "Flapper". Mark Ferris joined the club in the summer of 1996, however to Dan's credit he remained as part of the squad and warmed the bench for the entire 96/97 season. His 8 appearances during that campaign were all as an on-field substitute, which led to Phil awarding him the Clubman of the Year Award. He then moved on to play for another team. Danny (the Comb) is now a larger than life figure and wouldn't miss a Bridgend tour for the world.

Nickname: Comb
Birthplace/Date of Birth: Lambeth / 09/09/73
Resides: At home in Epsom
Family: I am seeing a bird that lives in Peacehaven (nr Brighton) and she has a 6 year old son.
Occupation: IT Whizzkid. I am a director of Comb-u-fix Computers Ltd.
How did you come to join the Casuals: Met Therapist through Rulo in '94. Therapist persuaded me to become one of his creatures & join the Casuals.
Why did you leave: Couldn't stand another night at the original 'House of Horrors' in Uxbridge
Who else did you introduce to the club: Graham 'Lump' Nash
Highlight of Casuals Career: My two goals against British Airways & the first Casuals tours abroad (Hardcore / You know the score / Bridgend - Magaluf '94)
Lowlight of Casuals career: The 'Give Bruce a blow' incident in Bridgend. The gaffer showed me no mercy when pulling me off (which he always enjoys) after a small error in goal. I then proceeded to throw all my toys out the pram & bugger off home early.
Most Embarrassing Moment: G-Force's 40 yard back header against Peabody which hit a bump, bounced awkwardly, bobbled under me & went in.
Best Casuals manager you played under: Only played under one - the Legendary W.P.L Malcolm
Worst player you played alongside: Dougie Brathwaite / Derek Monks
Funniest player: Derek Monks (C'mon Dez)
Favourite match: All the Arabian Cup games
Worst match: The Peabody Game (lost 3-0 in front of my new bird and threw one in)
Most memorable Casuals goal you scored: A screamer from 2 yards against British Airways
Funniest thing you have seen during a game: Phil's 'celebration' after scoring in the Casual's first cup final (1993) - he looked like a racehorse at Aintree (steady Bracky)
Funniest thing you have seen on a Casuals night out: Too many to mention but here's a few - Vinny Dej falling down the stairs on a Casual's Christmas do at Hertford / 'Smithy's bird' in Bridgend / Rulo signing autographs in Magaluf / Phil shagging a pot-faced Geordie, 8 sun loungers high in Tenerife / Frodo jumping out the window on Rulo's Birthday do (& many more...)
Favourite Bridgend tour memory: Again too many to mention but probably something involving Junior Shag Gary Payne on his only tour appearance (he was a Ledge..)

OUCH: Gaffer-slap for the comb
Are you still playing: Yes, for AFC Wates
How would you like to be remembered: As Danny the Comb - club legend
Best thing about being a Casual: All the Roadhouse nights out (what a shitehole..)
Message to the current team: Wear that Badge with Pride boys...
